How do I determine the amount of sensors I need for my silos, storage, or transportation infrastructure?

This article explains how to estimate the number of Centaur® sensors required for silos, storage facilities, or transportation infrastructure.

Sensor Quantity Guidelines

The required number of sensors depends on the specific storage asset, product type, and operational process. For asset-specific recommendations, contact the Centaur team with your storage and product details.

General Recommendations

Use the following guidelines as a starting point:

  • Precision fumigation in sealed containers or chambers
Approximately 1 sensor per 10 metric tons of product.

  • Silo fumigation and grain monitoring
Approximately 1 sensor per 15,000–20,000 bushels, or 400–500 metric tons of stored grain.

Additional Notes

Centaur’s data analytics software complements physical sensor measurements to provide accurate estimates across the entire storage volume, even beyond direct sensor coverage
